Exploring Pittsburgh On Your Visit to Wilkinsburg

The Duquesne Incline

Built in 1877, the incline pass was initially built to take cargo up to Mount Washington top. Currently, it is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Pittsburg. Ride the incline to the top of Mount Washington to enjoy some spectacular views of the city along the way and from the observation deck. Residents living on Mount Washington also take the funiculars to get to work in the city, which means you can even mingle with the locals.

Fallingwater

Explore Fallingwater at the Laurel Highlands of the Allegheny Mountains, located about 70 kilometers from Pittsburgh. Surrounded by forests, hills and streams, the Fallingwater is aperfect outdoor getaway. If you’re in mood for adventure, try the white water rafting at Ohiopyle State Park.

Cultural District

You may want to experience the city’s art and music scene by visiting Pittsburgh Ballet Theater, Pittsburgh Oprah, and Symphony. Be sure to pick up the free city paper to check on concert listings. Multitudes of Art and Music festivals are held in the city – most popular ones are Pittsburgh Folk festival, Three Rivers Art Festival, Little Italy Days and Three Rivers Regatta.

Kennywood Park

Whether you’re staying in any of the hotels in Pittsburgh or Wilkinsburg, there is always time for some fun at the park. Kids will love Kennywood’s roller coasters including the thunderbolt, the Phantom’s Revenge and the Racer. There are other parks like Caddy Shak Family Fun Park that offers family fun activities like go carting and mini golf.

Golden Triangle

The three rivers Ohio, Allegheny and Monongahela meet at the center of the county called the Golden triangle. Sign up for Gateway Clipper Fleet that flows through the Golden Triangle.

Heinz Memorial Chapel

If you’re a fan of architecture, check out the intricate detailing at Heinz Memorial Chapel on the University of Pittsburgh campus. The walls are made of grey Indiana limestone, while the carvings are inspired from Gothic tradition. Another property known for its Gothic Revival architecture is the Saint Paul Cathedral.

Eating out at Pittsburgh

You can’t leave the city without experiencing the culinary adventure at some of the city’s ravishing restaurants like Conflict Kitchen, Capital Grille, Pamela’s Diner, Hofbrauhus Pittsburgh and Church Brew Works. If you’re looking for fresh seafood, try the crab cake appetizers at Monterey Bay Fish Grotto, while you enjoy some great views of the Golden Triangle from Mount Washington.
